Crowd Pleaser
Maximus may have been great at pleasing the crowd – but the Coliseum Bonus is definitely the biggest crowd pleaser in the Gladiator slot machine. It is triggered by 3 to 5 Scattered Coliseum Bonus Symbols and in it you must pick stones from the coliseum wall to reveal a variety of awards. In row 1 your stone will reveal a number of free games, whilst in row 2 your stone will reveal a prize multiplier. Meanwhile extra Scatter and Wild Symbols will be revealed respectively in rows 3 and 4 and these will be distributed over the reels during your free games. Anytime Commodus appears on reel 3 during your free games you will be awarded an additional 3 games. The triggering Scatter Symbols will also award total-bet multiplying prizes of up to 100x.
Prizes that can be won during free games and the main game include up to 250 coins for both Juba the Champion Gladiator (Dimon Hounsou) and for Gladiator Trainer Proximo (Oliver Reed), whilst Seantor Gracchus (Derek Jacobi) can award up to 350 coins. Lucilla, sister of Commodus (but who hates him and helps Maximus) can win you 1,000 coins, whilst bringing down Commodus (the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix) can win you 5,000 coins.
The game’s Wild Symbol is the Gladiator Mask, and this has the power to substitute for characters to award more thumbs-up wins for any willing gladiator who takes on this exciting slot. The Gladiator Masks will do much more than that though as 3 of them on reels 2, 3 and 4 will trigger the Gladiator Bonus. In this you must select 9 random helmets that will reveal either bronze, silver or gold helmets respectively worth 2.5, 7.5 and 12.5 coins. Your win will be the total of the 9 helmets.
Any prize of less than a $1,000 may also be gambled on the Double-Your-Money Gamble Feature. All you have to do is choose whether a card will be red or black. Receive a thumbs-up if you are victorious, and a thumbs-down if you’re defeated – but that is the Gladiator way.
There’s even an epic accompanying soundtrack and the characters are the original characters from the famous Ridley Scott directed film.
