Imagine a Japanese restaurant where all of the sushi comes to life at night (like Toy Story, but with fish!). These are the Kobushi and are the subject of a hit French television series on ABC. The slot features many of these characters including a purple octopus, a wide eyed fish and various brightly coloured sushi characters, as well as some actual pieces of sushi. This slot by iSoftbet has a very original look to it. The symbols are all square shaped making for a compact looking slot, these squares fitting together in a 5 x 3 grid. Each symbol has a different background making for a very colourful and stylish game, the only symbols sharing a background being the playing card symbols. The accompanying soundtrack is very fitting being an oriental tune that plays throughout. All the while, the red sushi character stands to the bottom left of the reels looking on and celebrating when you hit a win – this adding an element of fun and humour to the game.
Setup and Play for Kobushi Slot
Like the majority of iSoftbet slots, this has five reels. There are a total of 30 win lines, but you’ll be able to play fewer if you choose, the options being 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and the maximum 30 of course. You’ll also choose both your coin amount and the line bet and these in partnership with the number of win lines will give you your total stake for each spin.
To win you’ll need to land at least three of any symbol in a row from left to right on a win line. The green bandana wearing sushi is the joint top paying symbol at the game (with the octopus) and gives you a 1000 coin win for landing five in a row. This symbol also acts as the wild at the game and will substitute for any other apart from the scatter and the bonus. The other symbols at the slot pay between 500 and 50 coins for landing five in a row, with the playing card symbols paying out the smallest of these wins.
This game has a salmon sushi scatter symbol which pays out 5x, 10x or 25x your total bet size when landing 3, 4 or 5 symbols anywhere across the five reels.
Kobushi Slot Progressive Jackpots
There are two progressive Jackpots to be won at this slot – the lower Sushi Jackpot and the higher Kobushi Jackpot. These are only available when playing for the max bet size, so we would suggest always playing for the max bet (if you want to lower your stake we would suggest lowering the coin value as opposed to the bet size). To activate the round you’ll need to land the Kobushi Bonus symbol three times or more across the reels.
The jackpot round takes you to a screen showing fifteen different Kobushi Bonus symbols and you’ll click on them to reveal your win. As well as the two Jackpots you’re also able to win up to 15,000 coins in this round.
Kobushi Slot Bonus Round
The bonus round is activated by the third scatter symbol at the slot, this time the fat cat. You’ll firstly be taken to a screen where you’ll choose one of four bowls of sushi about to be eaten by the cat which reveals the number of free spins. You’ll then pick one of three pots for your multiplier and also start a conveyor belt of symbols, whichever symbol it stops on will become an extra wild.
As you can imagine, a round where you’ll find extra wilds and multipliers, as well as a large number of free spins can be particularly good. The interactive aspect also works here, instead of being given a set number of spins and a multiplier at many other slots.
Kobushi Slot Conclusion
Not living in France, I’ve never actually come across the Kobushi series, however this slot is certainly a good advert for it, the game being colourful, fun and having a good sense of humour. The gameplay is good too. Any slot which has a progressive Jackpot (or two!) certainly gets the adrenaline going and the free spins feature is much more involved than usual. All in all, this is a slot that I would recommend to all players – if you’re a fan of Kobushi already, even better!
