The 2021 Irish Open Main Event has come to an end at partypoker. The €1,100 tournament saw 1,880 players compete, with the €1 million prize pool guarantee completely smashed. A total of €1,880,000 in prize money was awarded and it was Pavel Veksler that eventually earned the title win. He was up against Stoyan Obreshkov in the heads-up round and the two decided upon a deal that determined the prize money early on.

Final Table Details

Obreshkov would hold a nice chip lead when the final table was set. For Veksler, he was sitting in 7th, not looking good to finish out the event with a win. Fans could catch all the final table action as it happened since partypoker streamed the footage live via its Twitch and YouTube channels.

Fans watched as it took almost two hours before the first player would go down. Justus Held exited in 9th place after he went head-to-head with Obreshkov. After a few more eliminations, the table would be down to four. The final four would compete for over an hour before Robin Andreas Berggren was knocked out of the competition.

This left Obreshkov, Veksler, and Franco Spitale. Eventually, Spitale would be outed in third after he put his 3s up against pocket Aces.

The Heads-Up Round

Veksler and Obreshkov would then begin the heads-up round. Veksler had a two-to-one chip advantage at the time and the two online poker players decided to cut a deal. The agreement reduced the difference in prize money between first and second place.

Once the event started back up, Veksler would increase his chip lead. He eventually had Obreshkov down to just 15 blinds. Obreshkov decided to go all-in with his short stack holding J-9 and was called by Veksler who held A-4. The decision didn’t work in his favor and Obreshkov was outed in second place.

The Main Event ran from March 26 to April 7, providing players with three starting flights. There was plenty of time to get in on the action, including options to earn a seat via satellite competitions. Four different steps options were provided so players could buy their way in to compete for a much lower cost than the €1,100 buy-in.

The final qualifier was just €109, and provided several seats to the Main Event.
